Location: Remote - supporting a large California health system
Schedule : Monday-Friday, 10am-7pm CST / 8am-5pm PST
Job Summary We are seeking experienced Call Center Representatives to join the Patient Billing team for one of the largest health systems in California. This position handles high-volume inbound calls from patients, authorized representatives, and insurance companies regarding billing inquiries, account balances, and payment responsibilities.
You will respond to questions about charges, deductibles, and insurance coverage with professionalism and empathy, ensuring each patient receives clear and accurate information. Representatives must be able to navigate multiple systems to locate account details, make corrections, and document all encounters thoroughly.
Key Responsibilities - Answer a high volume of inbound calls (50-60 per day) from patients and payors regarding billing questions.
- Access and update patient accounts within Epic and other internal systems.
- Explain billing details, insurance coverages, and payment responsibilities clearly to patients.
- Document all interactions and escalate complex issues when necessary.
- Meet department quality metrics of 95%+ accuracy and provide a "white glove" level of service.
Qualifications Must Have:
- 2-3 years of back-end Revenue Cycle experience (billing, collections, or A/R follow-up).
- 1+ year of high-volume call center experience (service-focused, not scheduling/front desk).
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex billing or insurance concepts.
- Reliable, high-speed internet and a quiet, dedicated home workspace.
Highly Preferred: Epic system experience in a healthcare or hospital setting.
Soft Skills - Professional, patient, and empathetic communication style.
- Strong problem-solving and multitasking skills.
- Dependable and committed to meeting performance metrics.
