Job Description

We are looking for an experienced and safety-focused Heavy Equipment Mechanic to handle repairs and maintenance on a wide range of heavy-duty equipment. This position plays a key role in keeping our fleet reliable and safe, including loaders, dozers, haul trucks, water trucks, pickups, and other support vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Conducts daily workplace inspections and promptly reports any hazards or safety concerns.
• Diagnoses and repairs mechanical issues while performing preventive maintenance on diesel and gasoline-powered equipment such as loaders, dozers, haul trucks, water trucks, pickups, and other support units.
• Performs repairs using hand and pneumatic tools, welding and cutting equipment, lifts, and hoists, following MSHA and AWS safety standards.
• Completes pre-trip safety inspections on mobile equipment, including service trucks, and documents any findings.
• Operates equipment for diagnostics and transport while maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, trade school, or GED with 6–10 years of relevant experience or equivalent.
• Proficient in diagnosing and repairing diesel and gasoline engines.
• Able to use computers for maintenance tracking and reports.
• Must be able to access all mobile equipment in the plant, including working at heights, in confined spaces, on elevated platforms, and climbing ladders or stairs.
• Regular use of personal protective equipment is required, such as a hard hat, hearing and eye protection, safety boots, respirator (when needed), protective clothing, and gloves.
• Work conditions may include exposure to extreme temperatures, noise, vibration, oils, dust, fumes, and other airborne particles.
• Duties require standing, sitting, walking, balancing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, shoveling, and working on elevated areas.
• Must be capable of lifting up to 100 pounds.
