Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Optometrist to join our team. As an Optometrist, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive eye care services to patients. This includes conducting eye exams, diagnosing and treating visual problems, prescribing corrective lenses, and educating patients on proper eye care.
Duties:
- Perform comprehensive eye examinations to assess visual acuity and detect any abnormalities or diseases
- Diagnose and treat visual problems such as nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism, and presbyopia
- Prescribe and fit corrective lenses, including eyeglasses and contact lenses
- Provide pre- and post-operative care for patients undergoing eye surgeries
- Monitor and manage various eye conditions such as glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide integrated patient care
- Stay up-to-date with advancements in optometry practices and technologies
Requirements:
- Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited optometry school
- Valid state license to practice optometry
- Strong knowledge of optical principles and practices
- Proficient in performing vital signs measurements and interpreting results
- Familiarity with ophthalmology procedures and treatments
- Knowledge of medical coding systems for accurate billing purposes
- Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems, preferably Epic
- Understanding of aseptic technique to maintain a sterile environment during procedures
- Excellent knowledge of ocular anatomy and physiology
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and confidentiality
